It used to be that in order to make money on the internet you had to have your own website, many products to sell and the knowledge to be able to market and promote your site. That’s not really true anymore. Many new internet companies are popping up that offer real no cost ways to work from home and no special skill or technical knowledge is necessary.

The problem of course, is determining which one is for real and which one is not. I am a research freak, if I’m interested in any subject I will spend massive amounts of time on the internet researching until I’m satisfied that I understand it. People who know me think that I am a bit weird about it, but guess who they call when they want the internet scoop on something that they are interested in. That’s right, they call me.

While researching this topic a common theme emerged, almost everything out there has some type of affiliate program promoting it. Affiliate programs are not bad, not at all, but they do present a bit of a challenge in sifting through the fluff to find the facts. Affiliate opportunities actually provide one of the best free ways to make money online you just need to be careful when choosing which ones to promote.

I made a list of criteria that was important to me that I felt that needed to be met when considering an opportunity. It must pay cash and not just rewards or points, it must not require my own products or my own website, it needs to have a reasonable expectation to earn a residual income the will grow and most important it must be free. It’s alright with me if there is a pay to upgrade option as long as there is a 100% free option that meets my criteria.

Through careful study I was able to narrow down the opportunities and the positives and negatives of each of them. The right fit for me might not be the right fit for you, my criteria may not be the same as yours and getting the right fit for you is the most important thing. The purpose of this article is not to tell you what I ended up going with, rather, to demonstrate a way to prioritize things that you need to find and doing your own research to look for that.

There are so many online business’s to choose from and enough good ones that you will find what your looking for with a little work. Our troubled economy should continue to provide new people all the time that are also looking for ways to make money online and the home based business industry will grow because of it. List the things that you need in an opportunity and start working for yourself.
